Jimmie Giles is often considered to be the best tight end in Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ history. As a third round draft pick in the 1977 NFL Draft, Giles spent nine seasons with the Bucs. Giles was a four time pro bowler as his career flourished in the early to mid 80s. Giles’ four touchdowns against the Miami Dolphins on October 20, 1985 is still the Buccaneers single game record, with legendary coach Don Shula stating, “I can’t remember any tight end dominating us that way. Giles was inducted to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Ring of Honor on December 4, 2011. In 2020, the Jimmie & Vivian Giles Family Foundation was created, specializing in supporting STEM education of children and teachers. Jimmie Giles was inducted into the Black College Hall of Fame in 2021.
